Analogue FCT's

The most widely used Fixed Cellular Terminal is the Analogue FCT, commonly called the Premicell. The Analogue FCT connects to the analogue trunk / line card of a telephone system to enable the system extensions to make and receive calls directly to the mobile phone network. Using standard mobile phone tariffs from O2, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile it is possible to reduce the cost of calling mobiles by up to 50%.

Analogue GSM Gateways are also commonly used in Virtual Mobile Extension (MOBEX) plans where calls to other mobiles in a group are at a reduced rate (O2 Groupworker) or are free of charge (Vodafone Sharetime), the use of the FCT connected to the telephone system in this instance will allow the remote users to call the office free of charge and the office users to call the mobile workers free of charge.

Analogue Fixed Cellular Terminals can also be used as stand alone devices to enable users to plug in a standard telephone and/or fax machine in a remote location where it is too costly or inconvenient to install a fixed PSTN telephone line eg. construction site office, boat and remote locations.
